We bring art back—to architecture.

Cocoon is an atelier by Foam & Fabric Architects — designers, sculptors and builders. We design dwellings as collections, then build them to order in any organic form.

Atelier sculpted form

We were trained in two traditions. Beirut taught us that architecture is an act of imaginationthat a house can be a sculpture and still keep the rain out. Helsinki taught us that an envelope either performs or it lies.

We work between them. Forms drawn here, prefabricated in the atelier, installed on your land.

How we build

Two methods—one philosophy.

A
Method

Shaped foam core + sprayed skin

A precisely-shaped foam core is built around a load-bearing steel armature, wrapped in mesh, and finished with a sprayed structural skin. Repeatable, precise, ideal for our collection models.

B
Method

Fabric formwork, foam-rigidized

A tensioned fabric membrane is rigidized with sprayed foam—self-supporting, no air pressure needed—then finished with the structural skin. Ideal for compound-curve one-offs that resist conventional formwork.

Encapsulation = fire safety

The foam core is fully enclosed in the structural skin. No exposed foam, no surface flame spread.

Lightweight vs. concrete

A fraction of the mass—smaller foundations, slopes welcomed, floating variants possible.

Continuous insulation

A monolithic envelope: no thermal bridges across studs or joints. Quiet, even, efficient.

Architecture is not about drawing—it's about thinking.
